The Higgins Hotel, a part of Hilton's Curio Collection, offers an experience that uniquely blends historical charm with modern luxury. Located adjacent to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans' vibrant Arts District, this hotel stands out with its stark, almost modern Gothic exterior, which intriguingly contrasts with its Art Deco and retro interior aesthetics. Upon entering, you're greeted by a grand lobby, dominated by a striking floor-to-ceiling mural and period chandeliers, surrounded by an array of tastefully arranged artifacts. This sets the stage for a stay where history and contemporary comfort converge seamlessly. The rooms, particularly the King Room I stayed in, boast a 1940s-inspired design marked by clean lines and military-grade tidiness. The royal blues and golds create a formal yet pleasing palette, enhanced by wartime-inspired artwork and kitschy posters, adding a touch of whimsy. The panoramic city views, a luxurious walk-in shower, and top-notch toiletries and amenities contribute to a truly comfortable stay. A unique feature for guests with access (either staying on the executive floor or as high-tier Hilton Honors members) is the lounge, which houses a piano once belonging to General Patton, adding a significant historical touch to your stay. For dining, don't miss Rosie's on the Roof, the rooftop bar, offering spectacular views, delightful ambiance and good food. The WWII Museum is an absolute must and is just across the street from the hotel. The hotel's location provides easy access to the best of New Orleans. It's not just a place to stay; it's a part of the city's cultural fabric, offering a stay that's as enriching as it is comfortable.

This is a cool hotel with a 40s retro look to go with the WWII theme and adjacent museum. Front desk experience was ok but could definitely be better. Room looked clean until we settled in, it appears they did a quick skim. The Rosie's on the Roof bar was such a great experience and the women behind the bar were just awesome. They were super attentive and a pleasure to talk to.

It is the WWII museum‘s official hotel. Its decoration is cool and is all about WWII. The hotel just located on the other side of the museum. Guests can get $2 dollars off when buying the museum ticket by showing the room card. But it seemed to me that this promotion can only be applied at the ticket window, not on-line. Almost all places of interests surrounding downtown can be walked to from here. The front desk is responsive. There are three cafe restaurants in the hotel. Two are on the first floor and one is on the top floor. They open through holidays. It has a fitness room but no pool. There are three elevators and they are moving fast so that we did not have a problem on going up and down. Rooms have a good sound insulation so we slept well. I took one star away for rooms because some furnitures have flaws as they are aged.

This is a great hotel if your visit to New Orleans includes the WW2 Museum - it is literally across the street, and your room key gives you a $2 discount. Overall the hotel is very nice. Food was moderately high, but on par with other specialty restaurants in the area - and it was very good! The staff were extremely polite and very helpful - exactly what you would expect in southern hospitality. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. There was a very spacious shower. There can be some ambient city noise from outside (you're in a downtown setting after all) but we always bring a white noise machine to help the kids and it wasn't a problem. We had a great stay and will definitely consider coming back.

It is very clean and roomy, and due to the size and therefore probability of vacancies, they did let us check in earlier. There were a few cons, that I feel as a 4 start hotel, should be on offer. CONS: no bathrobes, no tea, no slippers. I tend not to use slippers, but should be there should people need them. Very noisy aircon/heater which we would turn off at night so we can sleep in peace. Note: The beds are very very soft, if you like that, this is perfect for you Avoid 3rd floor as it faces the aircon units and a concrete as a view. Our view.
